In this section of the website, I will aim to focus on the southern side housing development that is proposed to be implemented as well as how they regenerate the area, how they link to the rest of the site and their focus on how the city will operate post covid.

To begin with, the development on the southern side of the site directly coincides with the vision of the development. With the new housing consisting of a range of terrace housing, the area feel much safer almost instantly compared to the large open space that is there currently along the Thames. As well as this, due to the implementation of a Community Land Trust, the houses signify our improvement of community engagement which will be further explained on a later page. Lastly, not only does the new housing signify community engagement which follows the vision, but it also allows people to have a say in what they want to see in their area.

This section of the development directly links to the rest of the site because it positively integrates with the history of the site due to the fact the people who live in Newham are able to have a say in what happens, directly linking to the history of the site. Not only will the material used to build the houses integrate with the Silvertown Quays development, but also the Millennium Mills in an attempt to remove any part of the development shadowing the rest.

Lastly the development at Millennium Mills will be different to lots of other developments that have occur in London due to our attempt to retain the history of the site. For example the retention of the Mills as well as its refurbishment into a money-making establishment. Additionally, the Silo will be retained and turned into a museum for the community and public in order to enhance the rich history that has occurred since the buildings construction.
